If you're accustomed to dialling up to get connected to the internet to send / receive emails or to surf the web you'll be delighted with a permanent internet connection.
We recommend that up to four heavy internet users (people doing alot of downloading) or 20 light users (moderate browsing and a few emails) can share one standard 512K broadband connection. For more throughput than this we recommend, where possible, a higher specification connection. We can also "bank" connections together so they look like one big "pipe".
Because your connection is permanent you'll never have to dial out again and you can still use the telephone line at the same time. Broadband is also inherently more reliable than dial-up connections so you shouldn't experience connection or disconnection problems.
With a growing trend for firms to send drawings and large documents by email broadband is a must.
And, of course, you can surf the web and download material at up to ten times the speed that a dial-up modem does it.
To get connected to the internet you have to have an account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP). There are literally hundreds of ISPs to choose from. Avantica has no affiliations with any ISP but recommends Demon.net based on our experience with them, their long history and resilient facilities.
As part of arranging your system we:
- select the correct connection type according to your requirements;
- request the necessary checks to ensure that you can be connected;
- set up an account on your behalf;
- arrange for installation of any additional telephone lines that may be needed;
- supply, configure, install and test your router(s);
- and pay the connection charge.
We then simply re-charge the flat monthly fee we receive at no profit to us.
If you find that you need an enhanced connection in the future we'll make all the arrangements for you.
